Unhappy

Jay recently pronounced that 'myspace has
killed this board'. By this I assume he
means that people are simply spending more
time there than here?

Ahhh, but wasn't it all so, so different...
http://www.angelfire.com/stars4/glitz/

Designed during an abundance of disposable
time.

I've just realised that Ognir Rats is Ringo
Star backwards.

And before anyone asks: the login details to
adjust anyting have long since perished. Raggz
may have them, but it's doubtful.

Damn...I just realized I forgot to send in a picture.

I don't think My Space has killed this site. I don't see how a place of that sort is able to battle a message board. There is no smooth form of "discussion" there. Maybe if you could keep comments going back and forth within one area...

If it is My Space, it's because people are spending sooooo much time "collecting" friends.

Hell, then there is the problem that My Space is one technical glitch after another. Everyday I have a problem signing in atleast once. Then there are the knuckleheads who have soooo much shit going on that it kills your computer if you hit their page. Ugh. Fine form of "promotion", but who the hell would actually want to hang out on that shit for fun, unless you're looking for free T&A shots?

<font size="4" face="Arial">There are free T&A shots, you say? I bloody
missed those. I wrote a rant, last night, about
myspace, but I haven't had time to upload it yet.
My usual piss and vinegar verbiage...

- X-GF rejected its first 'Friend Request' yesterday.
There was a good reason for this. Her myspace site was
horrible. Too many links, too many graphics, too many
photos, too many videos and music files all struggling
to be the first to download, horrendous layout -- in
short, the quintessential 'wrong' myspace site. Attempting
to view it (pre-Approval) was an ineffably frustrating
experience. Even on a cable/T1 connection, it was
still attempting to load even after 5 minutes. An utter
waste of bandwidth. The sad thing about it, is that,
it wasn't even one of those tragically-narcissistic D-list
celeb/wannabe-supermodel sites, which congratulates itself
by displaying at least 55 (prosaically composed) pictures
of its plastically-enhanced owner down the left margin
of the screen.

- A few bands have recently jumped on
the Second Life bandwagon. Second Live is, essentially,
the graphical (and moreover, capitalistic) solution to
what Onlive Traveller was attempted to do back in 1998.
Internet oldies -- like me -- are as impressed about
this as they are about the 'recent phenomenon' of gratis
Internet telephony: I made my first gratis video-call
(via Net Meeting) back in 1997. So what, innit? The
quasi-aura of hyperbolic P.R. has become the new rock
and roll?

I take the piss out of predictable marketing,
but lest we Internet oldie media producers forget what
we were upto re: pod- and vodcasting, almost 10 years
ago... A podcast is simply a downloadable mp3; a vodcast
is a crappy res mpeg4 file. Even back in 1997, RealProducer
allowed us to encode video files which were, actually,
better than the now universally-excepted, pro-iPod-quality
vodcast. There's something terribly sighfully-belated
about today's so-called new media trends. And iPods, of
course, are the Devil's work.

Shit, I deny a request almost every damn day. One more fucking Rap artist asks me for a fucking "friendship" I'm going to track them down and force them to listen to GOOD music. I'm also sick of all the pseudo porn chick dropping me requests. NONE of them get an approval from me.

You know a person has too much crap on their page when it takes forever to load even with Cable-Internet.

I know. Some myspaz sites take even longer to boot
up than Hostboard threads.
